June 22 2026. I could not find corn in our seed collection so on my trip to tillsonburg I found some corn seeds and I planted them. I planted a couple of rows with a thought that I would do more in a week so that the corn does not come all at once. |

June 21 2026. Yes I cut it open and was delighted at the texture. I probably should have waited for it to cool... but I had fresh butter and honey and couldn't wait!!!!!! |

June 21 2026. After years of making spelt flour and feeling pretty good about it I am now making bread! Working with spelt is very different from wheat bread and it is easier to digest and healthier too. Now that I have a good handle on sourdough spelt bread I expect to start selling it at the farmers market. |

June 14 2026. Yes the gardens and here we have a lot of tomatoes with a lot of oats straw to help with the weeds. |
June 14 2026. This is supposed to be a field of oats but to me there is a lot of weeds there. I spent a lot of time weeding out the dock weed but it seems the mustard has taken over. There is oats there but it will have to be swathed. |
June 14 2026. This is spelt and it is looking good and for the first time I do not see any rye in it. Usually I take he swather over the field and cut off the rye but not this year. |
June 14 2026. This is my trial of flax. I had tried this a number of times but with poor results but this year it seems to have worked well. |
June 14 2026. The corn has germinated and I think just ahead of the sunflowers. |
June 14 2026. Yes the sunflowers are up!! We have had a number of good rains since planting and the sunflowers have germinated! |
June 5 2026. This field was planted with my red corn. The corn is taller and very red. Should make great corn meal! |
June 4 2026 I have just bout done the sunflower field with crimping and planting at the same time. |
June 4 2026 This is starting the crimping of the rye. |
June 3 2026 and here are the horses hiding in the wonderful cool breezes in the woods. |
June 3 2026. I did another field fearing that the other one was not going to do well. I was socked I planted right after a rain and the next day it germinated. |
June 3 2026. Well that camelina that I thought was not going to do very well has suddenly taken off and thi is looking good for camelina this summer. |
June 1 2026. I worked a lot on the maintenance of the evacuated tube system. It had failed last fall but it is now working well and hot water from the evacuated tube system is a lot less expensive as it does not use any electricity to heat the water. So the electric hot water tank is turn off. |

June 1 2026 I got the no till planter working just fine but it took some time. I had problems with the hydraulics. I had run the hydraulic fluid rather low and then had ai in the lines which was a pain to get rid of.
June 1 2026. The rye is starting to flower so I was out getting the no till planter working again. |
May 26 2026. Yes it is about time to get the sunflower seeds cleaned and sorted ready for planting |
May 30 2026 Since I was not sure we would get a drop of camelina seeds from the north field I planted another one just after it rained and look at that one day later they germinated!!! |
May 30, 2026 I thought this field was so poor I was not going to get harvest but given a week and it will give us camelina seeds for pressing. |

May 18 2026. Got the two horse plow out, did some maintenance and then when the operator cleared out some of the rust in his abilities to plow the horses did not have any problems getting back to plowing. Incredible day!!! |
Monday May 18 2026. I developed a new horse drawn machine that makes a very fine seed bed for planting. This took about 2 years and it works really well. This was my first time using it with horses and it was fantastic!!! |
May 14 2026 Got out the two horse plow and had great success setting it up. Seems the horses knew exactly what to do ti was the operator that was a bit rusty but it worked well as the rain had made the pl;owing a lot easier. |
May 14 2026. This is the seed bed machine which has taken a couple of years to develop and well worth the wait. This was a trial run with the tractor but now to get the horses pulling it! |
May 7 2026. Time to get the compost maker going. I put the tractor with the manure spreader running then load it with things I wanted composting. Works very well without espensive machinery. |
May 3 2026 We have struggled for a long time with covering our wood pile with an old tarp and finally I got a new roof put on the wood pile. |
